The Mousetrap
by Agatha Christie

Press Release

Spend a snowbound evening with Water Works Players production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap
The Mousetrap is a classic whodunit from the grand dame of murder mysteries, Agatha Christie. The longest running play in the world opened in England in 1952 and has been in performance around the world for 55 years! It was originally written as a radio play entitled Three Blind Mice.

The Mousetrap is set in the newly opened Monkswell Manor Guest House, where the young proprietors, Molly and Giles are busy welcoming their first guests while a blizzard rages on outside. A mysterious murderer is in the vicinity and as the investigation progresses, secrets are revealed about each of the guests that could implicate any one of them.

The plot is filled with dead end clues, red herrings and false leads. Can you spot the culprit before he…or she is revealed on stage?

Once the mystery is solved, theatre tradition dictates that audiences do not share the ending with anyone after leaving the theatre.

This production is co-directed by Eldon “Steamer” Roth and Carl C. Smith. Making their Water Works Players debut are five of the eight “suspects” - Zoe Dhillon as Molly, Lucas Banack as Giles, Ritchie Jackson as Christopher Wren, Chris McKerracher as Major Metcalf, and Deborah Williams as Katherine Casewell. Returning to the Water Works stage are alumni Ruth Lumax as Mrs. Boyle, Jeff Reitsma as Mr. Paravincini and Steve McHugh as Detective Sgt. Trotter.

The Mousetrap opens at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Arts Centre on Valentine’s Day, February 14th and performances continue February 15 and 16 and again the following week, February 21, 22, 23. Tickets are $10.00 for Thursday and
Friday performances with doors opening at 7:15 pm and curtain at 8:00 pm. Saturdays are $30.00 for dinner theatre with doors opening at 6:15 pm, dinner at 6:45 pm and curtain at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available at The Jelly Bean
