Do you have experience leading youth programming or with theatre instruction? Are you eager to share your love of the stage with young people?
Then contact us to find out more about volunteering for Wetaskiwin Theatre Society's youth theatre group. Call 780-352-8383 for more information.
Then why haven't you?!
New members of all ages and levels of experience are always welcome (even those with no experience - you just need some time and the willingness to learn). We try to select plays that require a variety of ages each season.
The Wetaskiwin Theatre Society requires people with a wide variety of talents and skills. This is just a small sample of the volunteer work that we need on an ongoing basis:
Are you good with a hammer and saw?
We need set builders. We need people to help renovate the building.
Are you good with a needle and thread or sewing machine?
We need volunteers to help with costuming.
We need volunteers to help maintain our costume collection.
Do you like to catalogue and organize?
We need someone to take on the project of cataloguing our costumes and props.
Do you like to read?
Every year we need a group of volunteers to sit on our dramaturge committee. Their job is to read plays and tell the head of the committee if they think they would be good choices for our society to perform on stage.
Do you like to paint?
We always need volunteers to paint sets.
We currently need people to give the inside of the building a fresh coat of paint.
Would you like to run the light or sound during a show?
For each show we always have one sound technician and one lighting technician. They are the real reason the actors look so good on stage ;)
Have you ever wanted to see a show from backstage?
Our shows could not operate without stage managers, assistant stage managers and a back stage crew. They ensure the stage is ready, props are in place, actors make their entrances at the right time - and have even been known to throw pots and pans and make the occasional "explosion" occur.
