Casino Wrap Up
Our Casino event in Red Deer took place July 10th and 11th.

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers who put in two very long days (and nights!) to make this thing happen - Greg Pariseau, Carl Smith, Jan Fletcher, Darcy Moberg, Eldon Roth, Steve Sakakum, Ross MacGregor, John Norton, Bill Castleman, Randy Hoyle and Laura Girvan.

These dedicated volunteers took time away from their jobs, burned some gasoline and put some wear and tear on themselves for the benefit of the Wetaskiwin Theatre Society.

"Out" on the Fringe
Our entry into the Edmonton Internation Fringe Festival went over the falls a little earlier than expected.

After many, many attempts to cast the show, we were unable to find enough actors to make it happen. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to withdraw our entry.

It was a disappointing outcome especially for the people who had committed wholeheartedly to this proejct and had already spent a lot of time in preparation, as well as the rather substantial loss of revenue that the production would have generated.

From the Ashes....
As we all know, theatre people are a pretty dedicated bunch. Out of the ashes of the crash and burn of the Fringe show, there emerged a group of die-hards who still wanted to do something over the summer. So, our intrepid keener, Bill Castleman just happened to have a one-act on his bookshelf that was suitable for three females - and there were three ladies from the original Fringe show cast who were also interested to do something over the summer.

Annual General Meeting
Mark your calendar for September 22 at 7:00 pm for the AGM. As mentioned above, this is going to be a great kick off to the new season. Please consider taking a turn as a member of the executive board. We have had a number of vancancies over the course of the year and need to fill several positions. Our by-laws were written with the intent that Board members must rotate on a regular basis thereby always ensuring new blood, new ideas, and new energy. It also ensures that your time committment as a board member is manageable.
